Joint start-up module

Building a Common Foundation

The Joint Start-Up Module brings together all EUR-Organic students at the beginning of the programme. In taking turns one of the six partner universities is organising the joint Start up module.

It will usually be scheduled in November partly online and partly on site, giving the students starting at different partner universities the chance to get to know each other and to get introduced to the basic principles of Organic Agriculture and to Organic Agriculture in a European setting.

Objectives

  • Establish a shared understanding of organic agriculture and food systems Introduce the EUR-Organic network and study pathways
  • Foster intercultural exchange and teamwork

 

Core Elements

  • Principles of organic farming and agroecology
  • European organic regulations
  • Systems thinking and interdisciplinary approaches
  • Group work, case studies and field visits

This module strengthens the international cohort and supports a smooth start into the programme.

Start-Up Module 2026

The Start-Up Module 2026 will take place this year in Vienna – organised by BOKU – with the participation of lecturers from the partner universities. 

All Double Degree students should set aside the following times for the Start-Up Module:

  • Monday, 21 September, 7 pm: First ONLINE get-together
  • Monday, 28 September, 6 pm: ONLINE Introduction to Organic Agriculture
  • Wednesday 30 September, 12 noon until Sunday 4 October, 1 pm


in person in Vienna at BOKU. 

Travel to and from the event, as well as accommodation, will not be organised centrally. Each participant must organise and pay for these arrangements individually.
